Artificial Insemination
Artificial insemination is a fertility treatment in which prepared sperm is used for procedures of IUI, IVF – ICSI. Prepared sperm is directly placed into the uterus through cervix in IUI Procedures, and prepared sperm is injected into the oocyte in IVF – ICSI to increase the chances of fertilization.
This procedure is commonly used when natural conception is not possible due to low count and efficacy of the sperms.
When Artificial Insemination is Recommended
Artificial insemination may be advised in situations such as:
- Poor Count and Quality of the sperm – OLIGO ASTHENO TERATAZOO SPERMIA [OATS]
- Unexplained infertility
- Cervical mucus problems
- Ovulation disorders
- Donor sperm treatment
Procedure: IUI
Artificial insemination is often one of the first treatment options before advanced procedures like IVF. The procedure is relatively simple and usually performed during ovulation.
Steps include:
- Monitoring ovulation cycle
- Preparing sperm sample in laboratory
- Placing processed sperm inside the uterus using a thin catheter
The procedure is generally painless and takes only a few minutes.
Procedure: IVF & ICSI
- IVF – Prepared Sperms are mixed with retrieved oocytes in a testube.
- ICSI – Prepared Sperms are injected into the oocytes.
