Semen Freezing (Sperm Cryopreservation)
Semen freezing, also known as sperm cryopreservation, is a process in which sperm is preserved at very low temperatures for future use.
This technique allows men to preserve their fertility and use stored sperm later for fertility treatments.
When Semen Freezing is Recommended
Semen freezing may be recommended in situations such as:
- Before cancer treatment or medical therapies that affect fertility
- Before vasectomy procedures
- Low sperm count cases
- Fertility preservation for future family planning
Procedure
The collected semen sample is processed and stored in special containers – Cryo Cans – using liquid nitrogen at extremely low temperatures. The frozen sperm can be stored for many years and later used in fertility treatments such as IUI, IVF, or ICSI.
Benefits
- Preserves fertility for future use
- Safe long-term storage
- Useful in fertility treatments
- Provides reproductive security for patients
