What is a PAP Smear?

A PAP smear test is a simple screening procedure used to detect abnormal cells – inflammotary and malignancy cells in the cervix. During the test, a small sample of cervical cells is collected in liqid base and examined under a microscope.

This test helps in the early detection of cervical cancer and precancerous changes, allowing timely treatment and prevention of serious complications.

What is Colposcopy?

Colposcopy is a diagnostic procedure performed when PAP smear results show abnormal findings. In this procedure, the doctor uses a special instrument called a colposcope to closely examine the cervix, vagina, and vulva.

This procedure helps doctors to identify malignant cells (cancer cervix), and other abnormal cells (inflammatory and inflective lesions). It gives information for  further evaluation and treatment.
