Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)
What is Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)?
IUI is a simple and effective fertility treatment that involves placing specially prepared sperm directly into a woman’s uterus to enhance the chances of conception. It is a minimally invasive procedure often recommended for couples facing mild male infertility, unexplained infertility, or cervical factor infertility. To proceed with IUI (Intrauterine Insemination), there should be no blockage in the woman’s fallopian tubes. The fallopian tubes must be patent (open).
PROCESS
Steps Involved in the Procedure:
Ovarian Stimulation – Fertility medications may be given to stimulate egg development.
Monitoring Ovulation – Ultrasounds and hormonal tests track ovulation timing for optimal insemination.
Sperm Preparation – The male partner’s sperm is collected, washed, and concentrated to select the healthiest sperm.
Sperm Insemination – The processed sperm is inserted into the uterus using a thin catheter.
Post-Procedure Care – The patient rests briefly before resuming normal activities. A pregnancy test is scheduled after two weeks.
How the Procedure Can Help You ?
- Bypasses cervical mucus barriers, increasing sperm reach
- Improves chances of pregnancy, especially in mild male infertility cases
- Less invasive and more affordable compared to IVF
- Requires minimal downtime with high success rates in suitable candidates
